Discussion group for trans, non-binary
and questioning youth

TransEstrie holds a bi-monthly discussion group for young trans, non-binary and questioning people. This group is for people who are questioning their gender identity as well as those who have come out or are transitioning. It’s a space to meet other people who have similar experiences in order to exchange on different topics, related or not to transness.

The group is open to all trans, non-binary and questioning youth aged 12-17.

Please note that 12 and 13 year olds need a signed parental consent form to participate in the group.

Meetings are held in person at our office (69 Wellington Street North, Sherbrooke).

Meetings are held one Wednesday and one Thursday per month, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

If you have any questions about the discussion groups or any other event, you can contact services@transestrie.org.

Support for relatives and loved ones of trans people

TransEstrie accompanies the loved ones of trans, non-binary and questioning people in order to give them the tools to adapt to the coming-out and transition of their parent, child, spouse, family member or friend. This support takes the form of individual accompaniment and meetings of our support group for loved ones of trans people.

For individual support, contact us at services@transestrie.org or 873-989-2949 to make an appointment.

The support group for loved ones of trans people is held in our office (69 Wellington North, Sherbrooke), once a month, and online, once a month.

In person: one Wednesday or Thursday evening per month, at the same time as the discussion group for trans youth, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

Online: once a month, from 7-8pm. Contact services@transestrie.org to get the video meeting link for the next meeting.

If you have any questions about the focus groups or any other event, you can contact services@transestrie.org.

Support groups for LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones

The objective of the support groups for LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones is to offer a means of support and intervention that is safe and secure for LGBTQ+ people, to co-construct an adapted intervention model with partners from the targeted environments, and to raise awareness among different types of audiences about prejudices and taboos concerning LGBTQ+ people. This group is aimed at LGBTQ+ people as well as their loved ones and those who are questioning their gender identity.

For trans and non-binary people

Monthly activities

At least once a month, we offer a social activity for trans and non-binary people in the Eastern Townships. Lead by one of our team members, these activities aim to break isolation in a less structured setting than our discussion groups.

Some examples of activities: movie nights, picnics, board games, etc.

Do you have an idea for an activity? Let us know!

For exact dates and to know this month’s activities, check our event calendar.

Aide financière

Being trans or non-binary can create a barrier to employment or financial support from family.

When our budget allows, we offer financial assistance to trans or non-binary people who need it.

When our funds run out, we can refer you to another organization that can provide financial support.

When available, we offer $50 grocery cards.

For an application or questions, contact us at services@transestrie.org or 873-989-1289.

Want to contribute to financial assistance for trans and non-binary people? We accept donations through our “Support Us” page.
