OUR SERVICES

In recent years, TransEstrie has set up several projects to offer basic services to trans, non-binary and questioning people in the Estrie region. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Please note that we are not an emergency resource. For immediate support, you can contact Interligne, Jevi, the ATQ, or info-santé by dialing 811.

Note on our services

This is a transitional period for TransEstrie. Projects are ending, and as with many community organisations, mission funding is scarce. As a result, we find ourselves with a much smaller team.

Until we have the resources to fill our calendar again, we are working to build a strong foundation that will allow TransEstrie to persevere in its mission for many years to come. We are determined to continue supporting our communities, while adapting our services to our current circumstances!

To do so, TransEstrie will be:

  • Providing training and workshops, whether for schools or workplaces, from trans 101 to specific, in-depth topics! This is also a direct source of funding for our mission.
  • Facilitating community organisation. Are you mobilising for trans communities and need advice? Are you organising an event and would like TransEstrie to spread the word? We are here to help you make your initiative a success! Contact us if you’re interested.
  • Conducting name and sex designation change clinics.
  • Participating in round tables and other representative bodies to defend our rights.
  • Organising a reduced number of activities, prioritising knowledge sharing and collaborations with other individuals and organisations. Check out our calendar here.
  • Continuing our research projects, which are funded by separate sources that cannot support our day-to-day expenses.
  • Maintaining our transitionner.info tool, as well as the many guides that you can order in print and consult online.
  • Referring people to external resources tailored to their needs.

When it becomes possible to expand our team again, we will continue to re-establish services to support trans, non-binary, and questioning individuals in the Estrie region. For the time being, our website will be kept up to date with our current services. If you would like to support TransEstrie, we invite you to make a donation through our ‘Donate’ page.

Thank you for your continued support!

In solidarity,
The TransEstrie team

Support

(Temporarily reduced)

We organise various events and activities to support trans people, non-binary people and people questioning their gender identity as well as their parents and loved ones.

Gender Affirming Items Distribution Resource

(Temporarily paused)

The Gender Affirming Items Distribution Resource (RDAAG) provides trans, non-binary, and questioning people with access to products that are not widely available in the area, such as binders, packers, gaffs, and breastforms.

Training and support for professionals and schools

We offer training on a variety of topics related to LGBTQ+ communities in professional and academic settings. We also offer one-on-one guidance to tailor your services to the needs of LGBTQ+ communities.

Legal name and sex designation change

We can swear in name and/or sex designation change applications, and accompany trans and non-binary people who want to fill in these documents.
