ACQUIS is a community project aiming to reinforce rights and promote access to healthcare for gender diverse people.
WHY
Most recent data indicates that less than half of trans and gender diverse people would be comfortable discussing trans health with their primary health care provider in Quebec, and that about 40% would have at least one healthcare need that has not been met in the past year (TransPulse Canada, 2019).
WHAT
This 30-month project seeks to develop a guide for healthcare professionals interpreting the standard of care of the World Association of Transgender Health Professionals (WPATH) in the context of Quebec law. The project also includes the production of a multimedia tool encouraging the empowerment of gender diverse people in their medical transition journeys.
HOW
With the help of three committees (scientific and legal, experts, and co-construction of the multimedia tool) and based on the data from a questionnaire distributed to healthcare professionals, the project will allow real applicability of the deliverables and promote uniformity of access to gender-affirming care in the province of Quebec.
